Civil Engineering Department gets the first place on the number of researches published in Scopus and Clarivate among the University of Technology. The head of the university appreciates the efforts of all academic staff in the department for this achievement.

The head of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Johnny, won the presidency of the Engineering Colleges Deans Committee in Iraqi universities.

 

 

 

 

The head of the Civil Engineering Department who is Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Johnny won the presidency of the Engineering Colleges Deans Committee in Iraqi Universities.

The Committee of Engineering Colleges Deans in Iraqi Universities (38 deans) held the first (virtual) meeting using the google meet platform on Wednesday, 8/7/2020 to choose the Chairman for the Committee of Engineering Colleges Deans. Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Johnny who is the head of the Civil Engineering Department in the University of Technology has been selected to be the chair for the Committee of Engineering Colleges Deans in Iraqi Universities

This position represents great importance to combine the visions of the engineering colleges in Iraqi universities to observe the progress and quality of scientific plans to be under systematic review in order to serve the scientific march of our dear country.

This achievement represents pride for the Civil Engineering Department and the University of Technology. So, many congratulations to the Civil Engineering Department as well as to Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi for his deserved position.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Doctoral Thesis Discussion in the Civil Engineering Department

 

 

 

The Civil Engineering Department granted a doctorate degree in the engineering of water resources for the student (Imad Habib Obaid) on 6/7/2020 in the postgraduate Hall at the Civil Engineering Department for his research which is titled:

(Safety assessment and optimum remedial measures for potential failures of gypseous soils in the foundation of zoned earth dams)

The discussion committee consisted of:

1- Prof. Dr. Riyad Zuhair Goaed (Chair).

2- Prof. Dr. Jafar Sadiq Matooq (Member).

3- Prof. Dr. Hassan Hammoudi Johnny (Member).

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yusef Fattah takes possession of the first place in the lists of the best Scopus researchers among the University of Technology faculty members and the second place among Iraqi Universities faculty members

 

 

 

After announced the lists of the best Scopus researchers in Iraqi universities, the Civil Engineering Department took place in the top of the lists for the best Scopus researchers in Iraqi universities for the second year respectively. This achievement for Civil Engineering Department was gotten by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yusef Fattah, head of the highways and bridges engineering branch, who came to the first place among the University of Technology researchers and the second place among researchers of Iraqi universities following a researcher from Al-Kindy College Of Medicine / University of Baghdad during Scopus statistics for the period (2014 - 2019).

 

As well as, Assist Prof. Dr. Ali Majeed who is a faculty member of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Technology appeared among researchers’ names who have the highest citations for researches.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Doctoral Thesis Discussion in the Civil Engineering Department

 

 

The Civil Engineering Department granted a doctorate degree in the engineering of building materials with excellence grade for the student (Mushtaq Sadiq Radi) on 24/06/2020 in the postgraduate Hall at the Civil Engineering Department and through the Google Meet platform for his research which is titled:

(Compressive Performance of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) Wrapped Concrete Columns Affected by Corrosion)

The discussion committee consisted of:

The participation of the Civil Engineering Department faculty member who is Assist Prof. Tariq Abdul Hussein in a master's discussion at the University of Basra.

 

 

Under the cooperation framework among universities and the dissemination of scientific information, Assist Prof. Tariq Abdul Hussein from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Technology participated in the discussion of a master student (Zainab Muhammad Hussein) from the Department of Earth Sciences/College of Science at the University of Basra for her research which is titled:

(Hydrogeochemistry of injection water and its effect on petrophysical properties in the upper sand member of Zubair Formation, Zobair Oil Field, southern Iraq)

On Thursday 06/18/2020.

Assist Prof. Tariq Abdul Hussein got thanks and appreciation letter from the College of Science Deanship at the University of Basra due to his efforts through his participation in the discussion committee.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Virtual online workshop entitled Organizing and managing exams and reducing cheating attempts using the Google Classroom platform.

 

 

The Continuous Education Center within cooperation with the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Technology held a virtual online workshop entitled: (Organizing and managing exams and reducing cheating attempts using the Google Classroom platform) on Wednesday 03/06/2020 at 11:00 am and it had been returned at 10:00 pm.

The workshop was given by Assist Prof. Muthanna Mohammed Al-Bayati who is faculty member in Geomatic Engineering Branch / Civil Engineering Department.

The workshop aimed to teach the faculty members to how prepare an exam in a style that makes the student more focusing on answering and relying on himself in the exam.

The workshop included (3) stages:

1- Preparation to exam

2- Preparation multiple question forms

3- Preparation random sequence for students

The workshop lasted more than an hour and it was recorded as a video. Then it was divided into two parts to easy uploaded it to YouTube Website in order to take benefiting from it.

A workshop on pollution of water resources and methods of treating and preserving it was held by the sanitary and environmental engineering branch

 

 

 

       The Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Branch of the Civil Engineering Department held a scientific workshop entitled (Pollution of Water Resources and Methods of Treating and Preserving it) on the 16th and 17th of February. Assistant Prof. Dr. Hussein Al-Quraishi, the head of the branch and a faculty staff of the Civil Engineering department attended this workshop. On the first day, the workshop covered a lecture on (Groundwater Pollution in Central and Southern Iraq and Methods of Treating it) which was delivered by Assistant Prof. Dr. Tariq Abdul Hussein.

      The second day included a lecture on (ways to conserve water) which was delivered by Assistant Prof. Dr. Ghaida Yassin Rashid.

ACI Iraq Chapter winners

 

 

The ACI Iraq Chapter is excited to announce the winners of the student project competition of the academic year 2018-2019. Students from different Iraqi Universities participated in the competition, which is organized each year.

The first-place winner project is titled: " Modified Testing Techniques to Reduce the Variability of The Repeated Drop-Weight Impact Test Results" by Ala’a Fadhil Kazem, Russul Mohammed Kareem , and Haneen AbdulAbbas Obaid of the Wasit University at Kut City and supervised by Prof. Dr. Sallal Rashid Abid.

The second winner project is titled: " Behavior of Modified Reactive powder-ferrocement slabs under static load " by Amna Hussein, Fatima Waleed, and Ruqiya Imad of the University of Tikrit and supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mazin Burhan Adeen Abdulrahman.

The third winner project is titled: " Behavior of Different Shear Connectors in Different Types of Concrete " by Mohammed Hashim Ahmed and Elaf Khalid Daham of the University of Anbar and supervised by Prof. Dr Khalil Ibrahim and Mr. Shahoo hama.

The other third winner project is titled: " Mechanical Properties of Sustainable Concrete with Waste Plastic " by Mohammed Moayad Hassan, Mohammed L. Abdal-majeed, and Hassanian Kareem Hassan of the University of Technology and supervised by Prof. Dr. Wasan Ismail Khalil and Dr. Ali Attiea Jaber.

Workshop Titled Course System and The Role of Academic Advisor

The Civil Engineering Department held a specialized workshop on the course system and the role of the academic advisor on Thursday 4/4/2019 at the main hall in the department.

The lecture delivered by Prof. Ammar Mohammed Hamza from the Geomatics Engineering Branch, explaining the academic guidance, which is a central and pivotal point in education which is one of the elements of the system as it is an objective response to face social, economic and humanitarian variables at the heart of the system and its educational philosophy.

The course of courses for civil engineering proposed by the Committee of Civil Engineering Experts in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research was reviewed.
