Discussion seminars for postgraduate students in the Structural Engineering branch
The Structural Engineering Branch in the Department of Civil Engineering held discussion seminars for postgraduate students of the Master of Structural Engineering to discuss the course of the branch’s students’ research on Wednesday, 2/7/2024, in the department’s discussion hall in the presence of the supervisors and a number of professors and graduate students in the department.
The students reviewed their completed research and the obstacles they face for the purpose of seeking to address them, and valuable interventions were presented by the professors to evaluate the course of the research by asking precise, important scientific questions related to the research.
A workshop on the educational portfolio and determining student outcomes (course assessment)
Under the patronage of the respected Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and within the lectures for developing teaching staff organized by the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division in the Civil Engineering Department, a three-day workshop was held on (the educational portfolio and determining student graduate outcomes (1-7)).
The lecture was delivered by the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Majeed Khudair, to the teaching staff in the department.
The workshop included a detailed explanation of how to evaluate students’ performance within each learning outcome, highlighting how to write Key Performance Indicators KPI, as well as how to write Rubric by the subject’s teachers, which is a measure of student performance within each KPI, and thus the performance and level of all students and their abilities are evaluated. To possess the skills required within each learning outcome. Teachers were also stressed on the necessity of completing the evaluation of all subjects and submitting them within the educational package, and this procedure will continue to be implemented for the purpose of being able to obtain engineering program accreditation.
